Testing Procedures - Dragonfly Naturopathic Clinic Ottawa Canada
Testing Procedures

Bio-impedance Analysis (BIA) - Body Composition:  The BIA machine is used to help you determine if your eating habits are improving your lean muscle mass and helping you to lose body fat.  For more detailed information please check out our BIA page.

Food Testing: Testing for foods that you may be sensitive to can greatly enhance your health by reducing the energy load put on  your body by avoiding offending foods. We primarily use the Carroll Food Intolerance Testing but also have available  IgE testing through Gammadynacare as an option.
Hair Analysis:  We are working with a lab to perform hair analysis which looks at heavy metals and minerals. Check out the links page for Analytical Research Labs website.

Urine and Saliva Testing:  Saliva testing is very useful for testing hormone levels in the body such as estrogen, progesterone, DHEA, cortisol, TSH and testosterone. These are useful to know for thyroid issues, menopausal symptoms, adrenal fatigue, infertility and male issues to name a few.

We use urine testing primarily for heavy metals as it is a more sensitive test than the blood for it can represent body stores as opposed to acute exposure which may show up in the blood only if tested shortly after exposure.  Doctor’s Data is the lab we use for the Urine Toxic Metal Profile and here is an example what a test result could look like.
